About Me:​

My name is Kareem Ballard. Im a visual artist from Chicago and creator of the Brand/Platform: Closed Canvas. Closed Canvas is my way of displaying my creative pallet and give my audience a chance to be a part of my growth as a visual artist. I graduated from Western Illinois University in 2017 and received my Bachelors in Graphic Communications. I interned for CII Embroidery in Galesburg Illinois, under the talented Attila Nemmeth. There I sharpened my skills as a logo and icon designer by providing service to many factions in the Quad City area.

After moving back to Chicago I worked as a free lance designer creating designs for small to medium sized businesses and clothing brands, creating lasting brand logo's and designs for companies in the Chicago land area as well as Houston and Dallas Texas. As an artist I became interested in the different brands of modern day creatives and the level of creativity they displayed. From Brian Donnelly's KAWS to the Flyboy Universe by Chicago Native, Hebru Brantley I found new idols that motivated me to create and use not only a canvas but the world as my medium. With Chicago being home to several fashion outlets and brands I decided that the best way to introduce would be through clothing in accessories. Closed Canvas is my first step into something great and I appreciate everyone who's here to take this journey with me.
